Default Profiles for Characters

When I played SWG, one of the nice things was being able to click on a character and read their profile, see their accomplishments, badges etc.. I would really like to see that added here. Some even added storys to their profile explaining their lineage (as a character) . It just added a nice touch.

Another thing it would help with is to eliminate the BS factor. So many say they did this mission and it took 3 mins, etc.. Well the profile could show missions completed by campaign, whether or not they received 1, 2, or 3 swords. There would be no room for debate, either you got masters or you didn't. It could also show best times etc. (I have a feeling this would annoy the tall tale tellers a bit, but it would help newer players find people that know what they are talking about, so they could ask them for advice and/or competent help).

This "Profile" could also show title progress, etc..

Another thing they had in SWG was the title "Helper" (or words to that effect) showing people they were there to help.

/notsigned.

Possible for more hacks and cracks.
this is a breach of security.
Players would like to remain just polygons in a cyber net-work. that's it.

This would be good in that players could also show off their weapons and offhands in a window with an image of their character like the inventory screen.

It should only contain an editable history that the player can include if desired, the title window, and the experience bar.

Good additional ideas. Thanks DK

Hacks and cracks? What??? It's not a "breach of security". I don't see how ANet could be "robbing" themselves. It's not your game, nor your character. They have the right to do what they'd wish.

I think it would be pretty cool to see something along the lines of this, if not exactly like this. The "make-your-own-character-background" thing would be pretty cool. Very beneficial to RPers, too.

Agreed, this could remain "Server side" thus removing the ability for a hack. Truly the only people I can think of that would be against this would be those that say they did it all in.. but didn't

Example of screen you'd see:

Note: The "Birthday" would refer to the Characters, not the player.

hasn't such a thing been suggested before?
I swear I could recall one, just don't remember the title...

But yeah, also it'll cause a lot of bias in forming parties if you haven't noticed the growing bias already.

LFG for a group that is friend of the luxons/kurzicks or higher.
Forming party with people with people gladiator title.
forming party with only people that have hero ranking.

And yes, I've seen these, I'm not making them up.
Also, with this on, it'll definitely just have people not describe their party then just judge after they invite someone.
So, show me the profile... Oh, you're not a gladiator? Too bad.
You're not friend of the luxons/kurzicks yet, I don't think you're good enough.
/notsigned

ADDED:
maybe I would sign if this didn't have the accomplishment thingy as stated by The Hand of Death right after.

I like everything except the accomplishment part, personally the only thing I see about that is to promote elitetism. If an accomplishment part is included, make it include the title a character is displaying only and not all the titles completed.

I like this idea! I played CoH and you could make your profile on that game too, it was interesting reading other characters background stories and such. I've always wanted to tell a bit about my character too.

/Notsigned for the title progress or mission completion status. "GLF 'X', must have 'X' title(s)" or people potentially being an idiot towards others because of their inability to achieve or simple disregard for masters rewards isn't something I like the thought of, it's bad enough that they introduced the "show your skillbar" feature.
However I like the individual character background story idea, I think it'd add a bit more depth and a wee bit of a "life" to each character.

/signed for story/profile
/notsigned for titles.
I have several on my assassin but still it would lead to elitism.

Interesting, people get really upset by titles. As for not getting into groups, where have you been? That is happening now. LOL I'm a Wamo, and I would draw SSI before I get invited into a group in GOM or TOPK.

LOL WTF people already have reqs like this.... and people always will.... that is such a dumb idea for not signing, also do you ever think that people sometimes, i know this is farfetched, HAVE A REASON FOR REQING SOMETHING, the having to call you bar was a WONDERFUL addition so when you need a rc monk to dont get jackasses lieing and saying they are an rc monk without rc.... truly if you are worried about stuff like this you are one of those asshole losers, if i spend 2 hours to set up a good ha team i dont want to get in and get screwed by one idiot who lied so this would be GREAT.

now there will be people who get left out because they dont have 'X' but there are a ton of people who also dont have 'X' so you can go with them, but people work for titles and such for a reason, ALSO if people were going to req certain titles couldnt they just tell you to turn them on before you join, oh yea PEOPLE DO, so this would change NOTHING except for a depper char and getting to know who your working with better nothing more

those who have apprehnsions just reconsider and think about what i said, the things you worry about already happen and they are not a big deal, if you want in a R8+ group and you are not r8 then damn, truly people want to know what they are working with. ALSO this will not affect pve in the least.... cause really except for a few areas how picky are people lol.

im still /signing and begging you guys to think about what you a whining about and relize its nothing

Titles will only get you into PVP groups, doesn't really effect PVE groups.

Wasn't sure whether i was going to sign it or not..... but after seeing the picture it swayed me

I always think of my characters having a personality and this would make us all unique (not elite).

Another idea for this would be to make the bio, require paying an npc/merchant to change. Like we do now for capes, perhaps not as much, but this would reduce lag caused by people constantly rewriting theirs when they get bored

Hmm very nice idea! This is the same as tittle but even more effective. Like a record of a verteran player!

/sign

Very bright idea! But this record need to be reset periodically so this will provide a competition among players! It will be even cooler if at the end, best profile will be rewarded with a medal or something. (That medal have effective of entering elite mission places like The Deep w/o needing a permission and/or trading among Kurzick/Luxon.)

In SWG the CSR's would walk around and read them in game (bios) and the most compelling got a badge added, that only they could award.
